- The Victorian era, 1868, was chosen as the time of action, and London as the place, then that time was marked by the peak of the development of the industrial revolution.
- The main characters are connected by family ties - Jacob and Evie Fry - brother and sister, both in the Order of the Assassins and share the responsibilities of the head of the underground gang, the purpose of which is to free London from the dominance of the bureaucracy.
- The historical figures involved in the plot are Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin.
- A remarkable feature of this series of the game is the presence of two heroes at the same time, there were no announced ways to manage them, it may be switched after a specific task, and during the mission itself, either Jacob or Evie will be controlled, depending on their role in the script of the game.
- For Jacob and Evie there are different styles of behavior. Jacob is more assertive and faster in terms of action, his arsenal is brass knuckles, a bracelet (in which darts with poison are hidden), a hidden blade and a revolver with six charges. Evie, in turn, acts for the most part covertly, this also applies to the method of eliminating opponents, and her arsenal is selected accordingly.
- Locations in the game. All the main action takes place in the city, it is divided into seven locations / areas. In general, movement around the city is free, with the exception of those areas that are controlled by hostile gangs. An option is provided for their release, after all the requirements have been fulfilled - the district passes to the assassins.
- The list of objects, the interaction with which will be available for the characters in the game, has been added. Basically, they will have to be used in the course of the mission - for example, if it is necessary to remove the enemy from the path without approaching him and without attracting extraneous attention.
- Dynamism. They revived the process of chasing the enemy, due to the fact that now pursued targets can use a carriage, a cab or even a train to hide from pursuit.
- The combat system has also undergone changes, most of the development of updating concerns the conduct of close combat with the use of small knives or brass knuckles. According to the developers, this was done in order to reflect the reliability of the history of that time.
- Changes in the composition of developers. The game is created by the same Ubisoft studio, but located in Quebec (previously they were only engaged in additions to the game series - Assassins' Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed 3), for this development team Syndicate is the first series that they are fully engaged in. Recall that earlier parts of Assassins' Creed were developed by Ubisoft Montreal.
- A bit of Assassin's Creed history. The very first one was released in 2007, if you count all the versions and additions, then only fifteen of them were released. Just before the announcement of Syndicate, the latest version already launched is Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China.
