According to the plot of the game, Agent 47 becomes an operational employee of the International Contract Agency, which sends him to perform various tasks in the most unexpected corners of the world. Each individual level of the game represents a wide range of possibilities for completing a given mission, not limited to a trivial approach to the game. All tasks of Agent 47 will be as complex and dangerous as possible, requiring the player to carefully select the methods for passing the game.

According to official statements by the development company, the new game about a ruthless hitman codenamed Agent 47 will complement Hitman's stealth-action line, allowing the player to take a fresh look at the adventures of the IAC agent. Starting December 8, the game will go on sale and will be available on both PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PC. The official website of Hitman has already posted information regarding the upcoming release of the game. According to the information provided, the new game will not contain a backstory, since it is not a separate story, but represents a new chapter in the life and career of Agent 47. The game will preserve the traditions of previous projects, the player will still be able to independently choose a method for completing which any mission. The world of the new Hitman will become more populated and more detailed, significantly change in the direction of increasing gaming territories, while the game will not have auto-save points popular in modern games - checkpoints.

As conceived by the developers, the player himself will be able to modulate tasks for Agent 47, creating tests in which other players will be able to take part. Game locations will represent separate global worlds in which each NPC will have its own name. At the moment, three possible locations are confirmed - these are Italy, Paris and Marrakesh. Despite the upcoming release, Io-Interactive studio assured fans of the game that it will continue to work on the development of the project, adding new objects, attractions, game refinements and other subtleties to the game.

The game will also implement various events in the "Multiplayer Game" mode, which will be limited in time. One of the examples cited by the development studio is a mission to destroy a specific target, where 48 hours will be allocated for the task. The goal is common for all players, respectively, when it is destroyed, the target indicator disappears for all other players, the mission for them is completed in failure. Such an introduction to the game, according to the creators, will allow to unite the audience of players and identify their gaming preferences, which will be used to build the events of the game.
Beta testing:
Pre-order players will be able to play the beta version, the console version and PC will be separated by a week time, respectively, console users will be able to test the capabilities of the new Agent 47 seven days earlier. The voice acting of the new Hitman will remain stable, Agent 47 will continue to be speak the voice of actor David Bateson. It is worth noting that Hitman Absolution, the release that took place in 2012, became the last game project about testing the hit man.
